At Museum Kaap Skil you discover the illustrious maritime history of Texel. The collection includes top discoveries from ancient shipwrecks that are on the sea bottom off the coast of the island. From the 16th to the 18th century, the Reede van Texel, where merchant ships and warships anchored, was located here. These times are revived on the world’s largest maritime model in the museum’s entrance building. Excavated discoveries from shipwrecks tell stories of distant voyages, wealth, adventure, and hardship.
