Better and more efficient

Flies can cause a condition called flystrike, a very dangerous disease that’s quickly fatal if left untreated. Flies lay eggs on a weakened or injured animal, and these eggs hatch into larvae (maggots) that burrow through the skin. We regularly take in small animals with maggots or fly eggs at our rescue centre. The eggs and larvae need to be removed as quickly as possible. It’s a delicate job, as they can be hiding anywhere and every single one has to be taken out, also from the ears and skin folds! Until now, our caretakers have been doing this with tweezers. This takes up a lot of time and causes a lot of stress for the animal. The device we’d like to purchase is specially designed to remove maggots and eggs, freeing the animal quickly and efficiently.
