In addition to grey and harbour seals, you can also see a ringed seal at Ecomare. These seals live in the Arctic region, but they sometime wander into the North Sea. Ringed seals are named after the rings on their fur. Come and admire this beauty.

Small seal

Ringed seals are small plump animals, which is why they are also referred to as ‘small seals’. In some languages they also call this species a stink seal, thanks to the fact that males in mating season have a very bad breath.

The ringed seal at Ecomare swims in the basin with the glass windows. During feeding times, the animal caretakers tell more about this particular seal species.
